It's free, very easy to use, and web-based, so you can check your feeds from any browser. Using a feed reader like this allows you to view new weblog entries much like you view new email. New entries are highlighted in your "inbox" so you can scan the subjects, click on the ones that interest you, and mark the rest as read. Here's my typical view of Google Reader.
