New and Improved HSBC Alumni Directory

Brandon Esparza, HSBC webmaster, recently emailed me to announce that he is relaunching the HSBC alumni directory with a new look and improved functionality. You can find the directory at [http://www.hsbc.edu/alumnimembers](http://www.hsbc.edu/alumnimembers).

Be sure to check out the directory and give Brandon feedback so he can continue to improve it.

New Addition: Kimberly Neuenswander

Kimberly Neuenswander's new weblog has been added to the "non-blog" list. For now anyway, per her request, her weblog entries won't appear in the main feed, so you'll have to check her blog directly for new entries.

Calhoun is Back

I recently moved Tim Calhoun's site to the "Non-blog" list when he announced that he was going underground with password protection. That hasn't happened, so I'm moving his blog back to the main feed.

Tim is without a doubt the most prolific moblogger on the list. He's faster with that cellphone than Wyatt Earp at the OK Corral.

Stop the Scrolling!

__The Best Way to Read Hobe Sound Blogs__

If you read all the blog entries on the main page of Hobe Sound Blogs, I hope you're enjoying the site, but you're not enjoying the best this site has to offer. You may feel like you're scrolling more than an Old Testament scribe with ADD, especially when there are a bunch of photos.

That's because Hobe Sound Blogs is designed to be consumed via a "feed reader", sometimes called "news reader" or "RSS reader". My favorite feed reader is Google Reader. It's free, very easy to use, and web-based, so you can check your feeds from any browser. Using a feed reader like this allows you to view new weblog entries much like you view new email. New entries are highlighted in your "inbox" so you can scan the subjects, click on the ones that interest you, and mark the rest as read.

Here's my typical view of Google Reader. Read on to learn how you too can stop scrolling.

To add Hobe Sound Blogs to Google Reader, simply click on "Add Subscription", then type in this web address:

http://www.survance.org/hsblogs

Of course you can add any feed you want to Google Reader. Once you get the hang of it, you'll never go back. Enjoy.

__A Note About Photos, Slideshows, and Videos__

Many of the Hobe Sound Blogs entries contain photos and video clips. Unfortunately, these photos and clips don't always show up on this page, or in our feed, due to the wide variety of blogging systems and media formats. So if you see an entry that looks very cryptic and doesn't make sense, it's probably because you can't see the rich media that it contains. To see the media, simply click on the subject line of the entry and you'll be able to view it in the author's weblog.

New Addition: Richard Klein

Richard Klein's weblog is our most recent addition. He also has a non-blog family website which is listed in the sidebar. Richard's blog entries reinforce my steadfast lifelong belief that he is the king of the one-liner.

Enjoy.

New and "promoted" weblogs.

Stephen Lay's weblog is our newest arrival. Welcome Stephen.

Jody Luck got her RSS feed working so her blog has now been "promoted" off the sidebar into the main page feed.

New link to Jody Luck's weblog.

A link to Jody (Valenzuela) Luck's blog has been added to the "Non Weblogs" link list in the right sidebar. The websites on this list are either not weblogs at all or, as in Jody's case, the lack of a working RSS/Atom feed prevents me from automatically including entries from the blog.
